How to Take Care Of Your Abaya

on

Hold the colour and quality of your abayas with proper care. Hand wash or dry clean which one is right? If you are in a state of flux, then this article is for you. If your abaya got to be clean it got to be tidy. Keep the dirt and stains away from your favourite abaya with specific care and maintain its quality and appearance.

Here are some general tips for caring for your abaya:

Read the Care Instructions:

Most of the customers overlook the care instructions attached to the label of their dresses. Always check the care label or instructions if applicable that come with the abaya. Different fabrics may have specific care requirements.

Hand Wash or Dry Clean:

Many abayas are made from delicate fabrics, and hand washing is often the safest method. If the care instructions recommend dry cleaning, take your abaya to a professional cleaner. If you use embroidered abaya or stone work abaya then must give it a dry wash.

Use Mild Detergent:

Choose a mild detergent that is suitable for delicate fabrics or wool. Avoid using harsh chemicals or bleach, as they can damage the fabric and affect the colour.

Use Fabric Conditioner:

Dip your abaya in fabric conditioner water after washing it in detergent. It nourishes and repairs the fabric and emits a nice smell.

Cold Water:

Wash your abaya in cold water to prevent colours from fading and to protect delicate fabrics however do also check the labels in case they indicate washing with warm water.

Hot water can cause shrinking and damage to the fibres. Soak your abaya for just 10 minutes in water before washing.

Use of Brush:

Using hard or soft cleaning brush to rub is not recommended. It might make the washing process easy but it will cause damage to your abaya mostly causing noticeable wrinkles.

Separate Colours:

Never wash dark and light-coloured abayas together. Wash them separately to avoid colour blending.

Turn Inside Out:

Turn the abaya inside out before washing to protect the outer fabric and any embellishments.

Avoid Direct Sunlight:

Dry your abayas in a cool shade, as prolonged exposure can lead to fading. Instead, air-dry in a shaded area.

Prompt Stain Removal:

Deal with stains promptly. Test a small, inconspicuous area before applying any stain remover to ensure it won't damage the fabric.

Iron Carefully:

Iron your designer abaya inside out using a low to medium heat setting. Be cautious with embellishments, as they may be sensitive to heat.

Store Properly:

Hang your abaya in a well-ventilated area to prevent odours. Use padded hangers to maintain the garment's shape.

If you need to store it for an extended period, consider placing it in a garment bag to protect it from dust.

Handle with Care:

Be mindful of jewellery, accessories, and rough surfaces that may snag or damage the fabric. Remove any accessories before wearing or washing.
